I am thrilled to share with all of you Rockstars that my beautiful baby has finally arrived! Simon and I welcomed our new bundle of joy, Declan Rhys Glendon Daykin on Wednesday, July 14 at 1:55pm MST. He was 8lbs and 20.5 inches!!
I can’t begin to tell you how happy Simon and I are. We are overwhelmed with love and happiness, and a bit of exhaustion too

It’s June and t
hat means June weddings which in Calgary where I live means it could rain on your wedding day. We do have a beautiful summer solstice wedding coming up that I’m bringing in fabulous Plum Dahlia BBJ Linens for…. Oooo love BBJ and their creative patterns and textures! We have another wedding where the bride has purchased pin wheels from etsy for her bridesmaids to carry down the aisle instead of flowers. I love unique wedding ideas and I find that June brides have a really fresh take on their weddings.

It’s May and it’s still snowing in Calgary! I planned a surprise birthday party for my sister last week and convinced my Dad to open the outdoor
pool early… well the surprise was a success and we went swimming despite the spring blizzard outside!
I’m hoping the weather will clear up soon as I have some May brides counting on outdoor weddings. Of course we have a back up plan but I’d love for them to have pretty spring outdoor weddings.
This weekend my in-laws are flying into town for my baby shower. I’m now 30 weeks pregnant, time sure does fly by doesn’t it?! I had a hilarious encounter with a woman that I think will make you laugh…
She said “Have you been nesting?”
My response: “Well, I nest a little differently than other women. I’ve been hiring new staff, getting my team really strong to run things while I’m on maternity leave, creating systems and processes, and focusing on bringing in income streams that don’t depend on me.”
Her response: “Oh… I just folded baby clothes a lot.”
Becoming a Mompreneur is definitely changing the way I do things.
I’ve nicknamed my little bundle “forced delegation.” But just imagine for a moment that you couldn’t do everything that you used to do for whatever the reason, what steps would you take to make sure your business still ran with less involvement from you. I think it’s a helpful exercise for any wedding planner to ponder as it will help you see how important it is to get everything out of your head and onto paper so you can delegate.

I’ve been really busy lately! We started up the new 6 Figure Wedding Planner Club with 2 levels- Rockstar Wedding Planner Legends and Rockstar Wedding Planner Hall of Famers. These planners are such amazing p
eople and I’m having so much fun coaching them to grow their businesses. We’re having our first retreat in May in Canada and I can’t wait to get them all together for powerful in person masterminding!
As you know I’m also expecting a little boy in July. For a lot of planners baby means a hiatus when it comes to growing the business. But instead for me it was a sign that I needed more help so that the business will continue to grow and attract clients while I’m on maternity leave. We went on a hiring spree and I’ve brought on 3 new team members. We now have total of 9 people on our team. And to think just a couple of year’s ago it was just me and a virtual assistant! When you put your mind to it your business can grow really quickly!
I’ve also been working with Michele DeKinder-Smith of Jane Out of the Box to help you discover what type of Jane you are. She’s created this really cool survey that you go through (it only takes about 10 minutes) and it tells you what type of entrepreneur you are. You might think – why do I care? While I’m still recovering from my whirlwind speaker circuit I’m off to my old high school, Strathcona Tweedsmuir School to speak again. This time the presentation is much shorter but just as important. I’m speaking to grade 11 students about choosing a career as an entrepreneur.
You see, they’re all asking themselves, “What do I want to be when I grow up?”
When you’re trying to decide what you want to do with your life and how you want to invest your time it’s important to hear from experts who have gone through experiences in that field or endeavor. They can shed some light on what you can expect. It’s even better when they can tell you what to avoid and what to concentrate on… you can save yourself a lot of costly mistakes.
(Believe me I wish I’d had someone tell me, hey kid, don’t take that computer programming university class, can’t you see you were meant to be a wedding planner?)

I just returned home from Turks & Caicos where I spoke to 150 wedding planners at the Wedding Planner’s Institute of Canada. Last week I was in Indianapolis at the Association of Bridal Consultants Conference where I spoke to 300 wedding planners. When I spoke to each of these groups I described some of the strategies I used to take my business to making 6 figures in just 3 years. I had the pleasure of sharing my story with 300 wedding planners this past week at the Fall in Love with Indy Association of Bridal Consultants conference.
Tonya Shadoan, a member of my elite mastermind group for wedding planners did such a great job of designing the enchanted woodland lunch (complete with a scent machine!) that I spoke at. The atmosphere and the energy of everyone in the room were absolutely amazing!

I’m really excited because I have a jam packed couple of weeks coming up and it is going to ROCK! First I’ve got 3 events this weekend. My brilliant team has everything under control and these weddings are going to be amazing for our clients.
Then I head off to Indianapolis for the Association of Bridal Consultants Conference. I’m speaking at the Tuesday lunch to everyone in attendance. I can’t wait to share with them how I grew my business to six figures in just 4 years.
